The SDB week

One week per year is allocated to have loads of fun, to lift spirits and make new employees feel at home.

It is called the SDB week. This year the SDB week took place from 9 -13 October.

Monday was filled with excitement as the first event was to take place at 18h00 between the Seymore Saartjies and the Seymore Sailors. The event was a severe battle of non-stop Action Netball. It was enjoyed by all participants.

The Seymore Sailors won the match 6 – 4, but a rumour was heard that the Seymore Saartjies had a strong feeling that the match was fixed.

On Tuesday we had a lunch hour line-dancing event in the parking lot. Our hand-feet coordination abilities were severely challenged with blaring rock-music. With lots of laughter and giggles we managed to dance our ducks in a row before enjoying a pizza lunch.

Wednesday evening was a family affair. A roof top movie with popcorn reminded us of yesteryear’s drive-in evenings. The movie Lion was a real tearjerker about a man searching for his birth family. It kept everyone spell bound and we felt like spending more time with the characters when the movie ended.

Thursday, the SDB staff were divided into two teams to ready themselves for a Siswati Quiz during the lunch time picnic. The teams where named The Old Building and The New Building. Tebogo managed lovely ethnic decorations to keep the spirits up. The New Building won a R250 voucher to spend as they wished. To wrap the event up, an individual quiz was held and the winner of another R250 voucher was given to Yvonne Maree for her excellent knowledge of the Siswati language.

The New Building spent their voucher in buying a toaster for The Old Building. Proof that a wonderful sense of camaraderie is shared amongst the staff.

The last event of the SDB week was held on Friday at 14h00, in doing what we know best: a braai! #chillax#itsFriday!

What an awesome week to re-discover your abilities and to socialise with colleagues. Always proud to be on the SDB Team.
